View Barbara's Work

Barbara Grant is an honors graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.  Her work has been exhibited at The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The State Museum of Pennsylvania, The Delaware Art Museum, The Samuel Fleisher Art Memorial, The Berman Museum of Art, The Woodmere Art Museum, The Mitchner Museum, and many other public and private collections.  Barbara Grant, a long time resident of Charlestown Township, paints what she calls "contemporary realism"; combining children, dogs, cats, landscape and commercial icons into a composite that the viewer is free to interpret.

Creative drive:
"My process of making art is the way that I digest and restate that information in my own way.  I don't have it all figured out when I begin to focus on a subject.  The creative process allows me to come to terms with how I feel about it. This usually takes shape in a series, or body of work."

What is unique about your process:

"My work is characterized by a heavy use of symbolism.  I employ drawing, painting, printmaking, assemblage, and poetry as tools of expression."
