" I came to Taos on a trip and fell in love." -Dennis Haggerty
|
Dennis Haggerty Born in the Philadelphia area, Dennis Haggerty majored in Philosophy at West Chester University. He spent an additional two years as a graduate assistant teaching philosophy to undergraduates. He now teaches at West Chester Friends School, 39 years, and also in Taos, NM where he has spent the summers for the last several years. Dennis has been dividing his time between West Chester, Pa and Taos, NM gathering inspiration for his work. Dennis continually studies the American Southwest and paints highly expressive renderings of the Western skies. His sunsets capture the spell bounding quality of light over mountain ranges. These semi abstract paintings of “skyscapes” often feature blazing dusk or dusk ruddy sky colors. His background in philosophy has also influenced his work. With each stroke, intensity develops into bold emotions. He currently works in his West Chester studio and works in oil and watercolors.
