"My focus is forgotten vintage, retro and antique costume jewelry… to redesign and make them beautiful again while keeping their own whimsical charm."

Jennifer Maria Meyer currently resides in Downingtown, Pa yet she is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina.  Her parents are from Germany and they spent a lot of time in Europe as a family.  Jennifer’s German heritage and Southern influences developed her interest in mixing various elements together to create an eclectic design.  At the age of 15 she began working for family friends who owned a small jewelry store.

Jennifer graduated from Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, NC with a BA in Business.  After college she continued her education with Gemological Institute of America in New York City to become a Graduate Gemologist.  At that point Jennifer wanted to travel and she decided to become a flight attendant for United Airlines.  For several years she worked in the jewelry industry while still flying.  Eventually she wanted to devote herself to jewelry fulltime and studied to become and Certified Gemologist Appraiser.

Creative drive:
"Discovering beauty in the imperfect and unique drives me to create.  My focus is forgotten vintage, retro and antique costume jewelry… to redesign and make them beautiful again while keeping their own whimsical charm."

What is unique about your process:

"My process involves sorting and searching through piles of forgotten treasures acquired from auctions, antique stores and flea markets.  When I see an odd earring without a mate I immediately imagine it as a quirky charm on a necklace.  I enjoy piecing together unusual and unique designs that would surprise or re-kindle a memory for someone or give a feeling of whimsy."

Personal relationship with your work:
"I put a small representation of myself into all the pieces I create.  My work reflects my personality and fondness of putting the unexpected together to create wearable art."

Thoughts on sharing art:
“My representation of art is fun and something everyone can enjoy. I hope that the joy I have while creating these eclectic pieces transfers to the individual wearing them.”
