William Yenkevich lives in Hazleton, PA, and has been practicing art since he was a child. After two years of art school, William embarked on independent study of the Old Masters painting and drawing techniques. With the early Flemish and Dutch painters as his primary influences, William believes the highest artistic achievement is a perfect reproduction of nature, with the passion of poetic feeling and beauty. William’s creative drive: “To see and create the beautiful in art … My drive is a very personal form of expression that is born of inner necessity.” Key emotion represented in his work: “Art is, first and foremost, about life; and most specifically, about the dignity, beauty, comedy, tragedy, romance, fantasy, pride, and nobility of the human spirit. My art infuses life with elegance … and touches the senses with passion.” Thoughts on process: "My time tested painting method depends on meticulous detail and superimposed layers of paint … producing the kind of beautiful and sound enamel you find in the Old Masters.” Personal relationship to his work: “My art reflects my taste, style, and perspective on life. I see only the beautiful in art. My work directs you to a wonderful world of physics, fact, and feelings.” Thoughts on sharing art: “Sharing art shows everyone the handwriting of an artist’s soul. For me, it’s the gospel of beauty, perfection, tradition and peace that is most profoundly transmitted through my classical style … and from within.”
