Roslyn Epstein

View Roslyn's Work

Roslyn G. Epstein's work varies among charcoal, chalk and collage.  She also works with oil on treated paper.  "I like working on paper because it is a hard surface.  With or without texture, it will absorb the color or tone.  Clay sculpture gives Roslyn another voice to use and communicate with those viewing her work.  "With clay I am able to feel forms, to express the movement by merely pushing.  My ladies in clay simply appear."

Roslyn’s creative drive:

"I feel comfortable with the female form as it is an organic rhythmic form that can reflect change, renewal and fortitude."

Key emotion represented in her work:

“My joys, my search inward, my physical injuries and illness are somewhere on the paper or in the form.”

Personal relationship to her work:

"As a breast cancer survivor, I feel that the curvaceous lines and continuous movement that is represented in my work is truly from my life experiences.”

Thoughts on sharing art:

“As an educator, I recognize the power of knowledge.  I have taught art from kindergarden all the way to twelfth grade and watching others learn how to express themselves through art is incredible.”
